Luke Looks Ahead
ULTIMATE WINDOWS-sponsored Billingham Stars today announce the return of the side’s Most Improved Player for the last two seasons as centre Luke Brown signs on for the upcoming NIHL campaign.Last year’s U20s captain, 19-year-old Brown proved to be a vital member of both the development squad and the seniors as he posted crucial points across all competitions. Brown was never more valuable than the final weekend of last season – playing three games in not much more than 24 hours, Brown scored seven goals as he starred in both the senior Stars Northern Cup win and also the U20s playoff win over Guildford Firekings. Brown feels he has progressed significantly over the past few seasons and is looking forward to improving further:
"Winning the league with the Under-20s was an amazing feeling and the playoff (v Guildford) was by far the best game I have been involved in! I feel that playing for the U20s improved my game massively on last year, let's just hope I can keep it going. The end to last season was great, I felt like I needed to step up to the mark and what a weekend to do it on! Getting Most Improved Player for the second year running was a great feeling - it's nice to know other people are noticing my improvements. I think I just need to keep working on everything throughout the season to progress.
From a team perspective, I think the boys just need to be ready for every game - we have the talent to make it to the playoffs, we just need the team to work together and I'm sure this year will be a good one."Luke is the second of our three announcements this week - watch out on Thursday for a brand new Star!
