ULTIMATE WINDOWS-sponsored Billingham Stars continue to add firepower to their forward lines with the signing of last season's Best Forward, Michael Elder.

23-year-old Elder has featured prominently amongst the Stars top scorers since joining Billingham five years ago. Last season saw his career-long partnership with Cal Davies complemented by Chris Sykes, a combination that proved fruitful for the Stars as their line racked up the most points over all competitions. Elder's reward was the Best Forward accolade at Presentation Night, meaning he has picked up silverware at the end-of-season awards ceremony for four years straight.

Confident Elder wants 'nothing less' than the title this coming campaign:
"Winning Best Forward was a nice achievement for me personally. There is always room for improvement in your own game and as a team. As a team we were disappointed with our League campaign on a whole last season as we didn't make the playoffs. That feeling will be in the back of everyone's minds going into this season and we have to be better. I just want to improve my game every season and contribute as much as I can to the team and it's success. There's nothing better than to be a part of a winning team.
I don't think our line’s
success can be pinpointed down to one thing, the coaching team changed things midway though the season and we just clicked. Sometimes in hockey when teams do go through a bad spell of results you need to change things around. It doesn't mean you're not playing well, just sometimes the luck doesn't go your way. We changed things up and we started finding the net and all lines were contributing. Unfortunately we started to play our best hockey of the season a little too late and couldn't quite secure ourselves a playoff spot.
We have to go into next year wanting nothing less than the title. I’m sure the coaching team will have reviewed the season and will have areas they want to improve on. As players, we have to turn up after our summer break prepared and willing to work. We have to work as a team if we want to be successful in this League. We have proved we can skate and play with any team, and I am confident we’ll be in for a good season next year. We are due a League title!"
