Roster 17/18: Ross Hanlon
ULTIMATE WINDOWS-sponsored Billingham Stars are delighted to announce tonight that defenceman Ross Hanlon has agreed to return for the coming season.
Coming back midway through last season after almost three years out of the game, 26-year-old Ross didn't show any 'ring-rustiness' at all as he slotted seamlessly back into the Stars defensive line-up, winning a Man-of-the-Match award less than a month after returning. Although a goal proved elusive (the slightest of tips from Michael Bowman denying him at Sutton), Ross proved he had lost none of his skating ability and was one of the Stars best-performing defencemen as Billingham surged into the playoffs and secured second place in the League. A full campaign now awaits Ross, with a preseason challenge series against former club Telford Tigers first up before the new-look Moralee Conference gets underway.

Hanlon on signing...
"I'm really looking forward to the season ahead, it's going to be tough though. There are lots of games to play and none of them will be easy. The League just gets better and better and with the new teams it's going to be a battle for every point."
Stars Media Team insiders on Hanlon...
"When Ross came back halfway through last season after a considerable amount of time away there were some who wondered how rusty he would be. The answer was not at all. His skating was still superb and his hockey IQ remained as high as ever. He slotted straight into a top role on the back end and to many spectators he was Stars best D man down the stretch. To have Ross for a full season and with a pre-season under his belt as well is a huge boost for the team and I am confident he will be able to handle what the new look league might throw at him."
"Ross Hanlon - one of the best skaters in this League. Delighted to see him back as he was probably Stars best blue liner in the run-in to the playoffs. He's also the sort of puck distributor that we'll need against tougher opposition. That first goal since his sabbatical can surely not be too far away!"
