Roster 19/20: Mark Going It 'Alone'!
ULTIMATE WINDOWS-sponsored Billingham Stars bring their netminder contingent to three tonight with the return of original Star Mark Watson.
Signing on for another season on Teesside, 25-year-old Watson joins a new-look goaltender line-up competing for the starting spot. It will be particularly different for Watson, who has been in tandem with James Flavell for almost all of his time with Billingham.
Difficult to miss, Watson was kind enough to share his thoughts on his return (which we thought only fair to share without edits):
"Yes I’ve signed my sins away again this year. After ten years of a solid goalie partnership between me and Flav, I was more disappointed than angry to see him retire. I have cried myself to sleep every night for the last six weeks since hearing the news. Since pulling myself together I’ve decided to give it another go this season. I’m eager to get going again this season, especially after missing half of last season with a totally accidental knee injury during a skiing trip over Christmas.
In all seriousness I think we have a really exciting young team getting put together this year, and I was over the moon to see Fozzy back this year who I’ve worked with for many years prior to this season. I think the League will be really competitive this year, and am really looking forward to getting started! Haway the Stars!"
Got to love a goalie... welcome back Watto!
The Stars will be making more player announcements in the coming days and weeks, as well as news about our Juniors.
