Stars Announce Roster Changes
ULTIMATE WINDOWS-sponsored Billingham Stars announce three roster changes this evening, with one player departing whilst two are added to the squad as the race for the playoffs heats up.
Firstly it is with sadness that the Stars announce this evening the departure of Czech import forward Daniel Šilar by mutual agreement. Scoring 15 goals and totalling 36 points for the club during his time here, Daniel leaves Billingham with everyone’s thanks for his contribution and best wishes for the future.
The Stars’ issues at the back this season have been well documented, and the club have moved to strengthen their blue line with two new signings, a brand new face in Lewis Jones who joins from Nottingham Lions, and a very popular ‘old’ face in Dave Thomas back in his number 24 jersey for the remainder of the campaign.
23-year-old Jones has plenty of League experience under his belt already with stints at Chelmsford, London Raiders, Haringey, Sheffield Senators, Coventry and - for the past season and a half – Nottingham Lions. Capable of putting up points, Jones will also cut an imposing figure as he adds some much-needed presence to Billingham’s defence.
And when you talk about presence, defencemen do not come much more imposing than Dave Thomas who makes a welcome return to his #24 shirt after over a season away from hockey. A Bombers regular for many years, ‘Tomo’ linked up with the inaugural Stars organisation in 2011 but work commitments limited his appearances over the following years. Nevertheless Tomo always makes an impact and the Stars are delighted to have him back on board… there may be a few opposition forwards who do not feel quite the same way.
Please join us in welcoming our two new boys who should both be available for Sunday’s game at Solihull.
